About the Thomas Richard Hodge Foundation
The foundation was formed in memory of Tom Hodge. Tom loved farming with his grandson Alex Hodge in Dandridge Tennessee. Together they built a successful beef cattle operation, but more importantly they made a lifetime of memories doing what they loved. Alex Hodge and four other local farmers saw a need in the local ag industry, so they formed the Thomas Richard Hodge Foundation.
Farming is expensive. Starting from scratch can be a very daunting task and being profitable at first is nearly impossible. That is where TRHF comes in.
We want to help others the way that Tom helped his grandson. Without Tom by his side, Alex likely would never have been able to fulfill his dream to farm successfully in East Tennessee. It is a way of life that many of us dream of living just like many of our ancestors did.
We want to encourage and help farmers in our area to preserve the farms that we have left in our communities. The foundation will be giving away funding, equipment, services etc. to qualified individuals to help make our local farms not only profitable, but successful. We will be focused primarily on our young and new farmers to encourage growth in our local ag economy.
